This past Sunday, the Scotland TCG Hub team headed along to the Scotland Card Show at the SEC in Glasgow and what a day it was! The event was completely sold out, and the venue was buzzing from start to finish, a clear sign of just how fast the trading card scene is growing here in Scotland.
With tables stretching as far as the eye could see, the show brought together collectors, vendors, and fans from all over the world. It was incredible to see the sheer variety on offer from sealed products and vintage singles to custom art cards, accessories, and TCG merch.
Highlights from the Day
One of the most exciting moments for us was getting the chance to meet Megan Hollinghead, voice actress behind iconic characters like Nurse Joy from Pokémon and Mai Valentine from Yu-Gi-Oh. We were thrilled to get a copy of Harpie Lady autographed with Megan doing Mai’s iconic voice for us. She was welcoming and clearly loved chatting with fans, a real highlight for any anime enthusiast!
Of course, we couldn’t leave empty-handed. We picked up a few sealed Pokémon products and added some nostalgia to our personal collection with a couple of vintage Snorlax cards – a favourite of ours. There’s just something timeless about those early sets.
We also had a lot of fun with the spin-the-wheel prize games many vendors were running throughout the day. Whether you walked away with a booster pack, a mystery graded card, or just the thrill of the spin, it added a fun, casual element to the busy trading floor.
Just as valuable as the cards, though, were the conversations as we caught up with several local shop owners we’ve met through the Scotland TCG Hub platform. It was great to see so many familiar faces and hear how their communities are continuing to grow.
Why Events Like This Matter
The sold-out crowd and electric atmosphere made it clear: trading cards are thriving in Scotland. From seasoned collectors to young fans attending their first show, the turnout showed just how wide-reaching and inclusive this hobby has become.
As we continue to visit shops and build content for the platform, events like this remind us why we’re doing it – to celebrate and support this growing community, highlight local shops, and keep everyone informed on where the action is happening next.
